Prepare your ingredients. You will need French press (press pot), coffee grinder, coarse ground coffee, spoon, and coffee cups.
A set of french press and manual coffee grinder.

Step 2
Grind your coffee beans. Finer grind creates stronger coffee flavor. If you are looking for coffee grinder, it's highly recommended that you prefer burr grinder over the blade grinder. Burr grinder gave you more consisted grind and they do not create heat to burn the beans further.
Blade grinder gave you chunky dusty mess grind, and burr grinder gave you nice uniform grind.

Step 3
Put the ground coffee to the carafe. The standard formula to make a cup of coffee is one tablespoon of ground coffee for a cup of coffee. A 4-cup of french press would need 4 tablespoon of coffee.
Standard formula to make a cup of coffee is one tablespoon of ground coffee for a cup of coffee.

Step 4
Put in boiling water into the carafe while stirring around to saturate all the coffee until it's about an inch under the top metal ring.
Leaving room at the top were very important to allows the ground to expand or bloom, and form cream like we usually see on espresso.
Don't forget to pouring boiling water into the carafe while stirring and leave some space so the ground can expand or bloom.

Step 5
The key to a great cup of coffee from a french press is timing. Set 4 minutes on your timer right after the previous step. At the first minute mark, stir the ground to break the foam and distribute the ground evenly. Pour near-boiling water to fill up until the top of the top metal ring. Remember to use non-metal spoon, which could prevent accidental breakage.
Timing were very important in the process.

Step 6
Put a lid on it and make sure the vented part of the top is aligned with the lip of the carafe.
Carafe lid.

Step 7
At the 4-minute mark, press the plunger down gently to the bottom, trapping the ground into the bottom of the carafe. This process would stop the brewing process.
If you forget to stir at the 1-minute mark, you would find this step difficult. Don't force the plunger down, instead pull back a little bit and repeat until the plunger arrived at the bottom.
If you do it the right way, you would find it easy to press the plunger down.

Step 8
Pour into the coffee cup and keep the rest at thermal carafe to keep it hot and tasty. Add cream, sugar, and anything you like.
Nice a cup of coffee to make your day.
